We provided a full architectural service taking the project from initial design ideas to completed build for this bespoke orangery extension situated in a rural setting on the outskirts of Harrogate, North Yorkshire.  Our design created a new open plan dining/kitchen looking out onto the rear garden with bi-folding doors and glazed lantern.

We provided a full architects service for the design of this bespoke hardwood orangery in Harrogate which was part of a large refurbishment and extension project. The orangery was designed to provide a large open plan kitchen dining and living space with bi-fold doors opening up onto the rear patio with views across private gardens. We designed the orangery to harmonise with the architecture of the existing property with attention to detail and by specifying traditional materials.

This new orangery/sun room forms additional living space to a sitting room in a detached house in Harrogate. The bespoke design incorporates a solid roof with glazed sides and feature gable with doors opening onto private gardens. The orangery was added to provide an additional seating area opening up from the formal sitting room.

We provided architectural services for a single storey rear kitchen and dining extension with feature glazed sliding doors opening onto a new landscaped patio overlooking the garden. The new space provides open plan orangery style space with roof glazing and a log burning stove.

Bespoke designed garden room extension with powder coated aluminium frame, bi-folding doors and glazed lantern, linking this detached home to the garden. The project also included reconfiguration of the existing space to create open plan kitchen dining, wc and utility.

We were approached by our clients to re-plan, extend and re-model a semi-detached house into a spacious 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home.  The project comprised a large 2 storey rear extension with new orangery, garage and internal alterations.   Working closely with our clients we designed a large open plan kitchen space, opening  onto a bespoke aluminium framed orangery for use as a dining and relaxing area.

The orangery was designed in natural dressed stone, hardwood timber French doors and windows and an aluminium roof.  Our clients chose a natural limestone tiled floor to seamlessly link the kitchen and a new underfloor heating system was installed as part of the project.

A full architectural service was provided taking the project from inception through to completion to create a truly outstanding home for our clients.

As a RIBA chartered practice, Pitchford Design Associates has many years’ experience of designing bespoke orangeries and garden rooms for private clients.  We were therefore pleased to be appointed to provide architectural services to design a bespoke timber orangery using Accoya wood and traditional materials to provide a substantial extension reflecting the architecture of this former Victorian rectory near Ripon.

The main house is built of brick with a slate tiled roof and stone window surrounds and the client brief was to design the orangery in a style which would reflect this classic architectural style.  The final design incorporated traditional glazing and joinery details including leaded lights and the proportions of the glazed roof of the orangery echo the form and shape of the rectory roof.  Contemporary features were also included in the design such as bi-folding doors which open onto the terrace leading to the steps which sweep down to the main garden. Underfloor heating and a log burner were also included to ensure the new space would be used as much in summer as in winter.

Part of the architectural design approach was to ensure that this extension to the main house would sit comfortably within its setting, creating a unity between the landscaped gardens and the character of the house to ensure a flow of movement within and between the two.

We worked closely with the local planning department to gain planning approval and the design and building regulations package included details of wall lighting, heating, electrics, flooring and bespoke and decorative features.

The completed orangery creates a generous extension in keeping with the proportions of the main house in a timeless traditional design. Linking to the kitchen to form an open plan living kitchen dining space over looking the gardens, this is a room which can be used comfortably all year round.

A full architectural service was provided to design a bespoke orangery extension in Harrogate with a link to a new garage and utility room.  Our clients wanted to maximise as much natural daylight as possible, whilst ensuring the new orangery could be used all year round for dining and relaxation. They also wanted a design which harmonised with the existing Victorian property.

The orangery opens up pleasant views of the garden and links the formal dining room and kitchen which were redesigned as part of the same project.  Natural and traditional materials were used throughout to compliment the character of the existing house, including reclaimed stone, an oak timber frame and lead roof detail.  The design also encompassed remote controlled lantern windows, underfloor heating and bespoke bi-folding glass doors between the dining room and orangery.

This project was commissioned to create a new living room, home entertainment room, guest bedroom and double garage, which was achieved through the sensitive conversion of outbuildings and new build link extensions providing additional space for living and leisure. The property is located within a Conservation Area of Harrogate.

To link the buildings together the new build timber framed orangery provides a pleasant south facing seating area and a welcome entrance for the guest bedroom suite which also has a spacious en suite bathroom converted from an outside garden store.  As well as providing separate guest accommodation the new internal layout incorporates a home cinema room.

The philosophy of the design was to ensure that the form and materials used were in keeping with the existing house and fulfilled our client’s spacial requirements.
